Weekend Idol

She zips leather second skin over naïve bones

smears luscious across her chapped lips

pulls fuck-me-but-don’t-fuck-me purple boots

pass her knobby knees

and styles her hair in front of the mirror

without once looking into her reflected eyes.

Her 1986 Mitsubishi Chariot

smokes through over-the-bridge traffic

then swerves onto Park-and-Pray Street.

She strides through neon pillars of archaic pursuits

and strips her nakedness down to her mask.

Licking eyes and sniffing tongues

bid thrills that pay her bills.

To dance to this music

she musics to the dance

of Sunday solar systems.
